    How to play

Fill the grid so that every row and every column holds each digit from 1 to 6 exactly once. The grid is divided into cages outlined in bold, and the corner of each cage gives a target and an operation: its digits must reach the target when added (+), multiplied (×), subtracted (−) or divided (÷). A − or ÷ cage always has two cells, and takes the larger digit first. A cage of one cell is simply its digit. A digit may repeat inside a cage, but never along a row or a column. There is only ever one solution.

A digit repeated along a line is marked as soon as you place it, and so is a full cage that misses its target. With a keyboard, move with the arrow keys and type a digit, or 0 to clear one.

    The day

Three grids, all six by six. The first falls to its two-cell cages. The second needs you to weigh the ways a larger cage can be made against what is already known. The third needs a cage and a line read together: every way a cage can be made puts a digit in one row, so the rest of that row cannot have it.

    Tips

Start with the single cells and the cages with few ways to be made: 5− is only 1 and 6, and 5÷ is only 1 and 5. The grids print well if you prefer a pencil.

A new day starts at midnight UTC. Your progress is kept in this browser, so you can leave a day half done and come back to it, and every day already published stays playable from the archive.
